Hi`ialakai Plan of the Day

PLAN OF THE DAY
NOAA SHIP HI'IALAKAI (R334)
Cruise HI-04-01
Date: Oct 3, 2004 (Sunday) Limited operations
LIBERTY EXPIRES AT 1500
Happy birthday NOAA! The agency came into existence on
October 3, 1970! NOAA was created by reorganizing
other agencies in a time of heightened interest in the
environment, and the agency was created around the same
time as the EPA. Landmark legislation such as the
Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act was also passed in
this era.
As an agency, NOAA is much more than the sum of its
parts when all 12,500 of us work together across NOAA
Marine and Aviation Operations; the National Ocean
Service; the National Marine Fisheries Service; the
National Weather Service; the National Environmental
Satellite, Data and Information Service; and the Office
of Program Planning and Integration. Each of us has an
important role in fulfilling the agency's missions.
Please think about NOAA's core values and how they
apply to your work.
People, Ingenuity, Excellence, Teamwork, Integrity,
Science, Service, Stewardship
Celebrate what NOAA stands for! It's really something
to be proud of!
